Dimensions of the Divide

Based on government statistics, more than fifty six percent of the homes in United Kingdom have a desktop computer and more than thirty percent have a laptop computer. Also, seven percent of the population has a handheld computer.

This means that 93% of people in the UK own some type of a computer.

On a global scale, only about 5% of people own a computer, and 13% of people have access to another computer. Also around the world, only about 4% of people have access to the world wide web (internet).
